In this must win game to secure division 1 status and even push for 2nd place in the league, Walkovers had Kevin English as stand in captain with Pats away. Kev started with a correct call of the toss and put Rathbones OVs into bat.
Mark Le Roux and Paul Michel opened the bowling and OVs scored 63 off the first six overs with both bowlers bowling very consistently but without the opening wicket. This also saw both OVs batsmen retire, bringing fellow Walkovers players Sam and Andy Dewhurst to the crease. Kev made the bowling change and brought on Andrew Bouchard whose first over went for 8 runs. Ben Naylor was next on and he was adamant that Bouchard and Michel stood against the back wall. Unfortunately for Naylor, with his second legitimate delivery Bouchard decided to 'do a Patterson' and ran under the ball and it went over his head for 6! Bouchard bowled consistently for his final 2 overs, claiming two wickets and Naylor finished off with a wicket with the final delivery of the game and bowled Peter Gough. Rathbones reached a tough but gettable 110.
Le Roux 3 - 0 - 24 – 0
Michel 3 - 0 - 35 - 0
Bouchard 3 - 0 - 15 - 2
Naylor 3 - 0 - 33 - 1
Walkovers opened the batting with Bouchard, with Sam Dewy bowling the first 4 balls with no runs scored. Bouchard then hit a 2 which brought Naylor on to strike. Unfortunately, there was too much spin for Naylor and he was out for a Golden Duck. Captain Kev came to the crease and steadied the ship with Bouch and no more wickets fell until the 5th over when Kev went for 11. Mark Le Roux entered the fold, facing his first ball which was a wide, 2nd ball (after calls from Sam Dewy of 'Boom Boom Le Roux') was out to his first legitimate delivery (is that two golden ducks in the game?). After 6 overs Walkovers were 47 for 3 with Bouch and Rochey at the crease. Bouch retired, Michel came in, went for 1, Bouch came back in, HIT A SIX OFF PETER GOUGH TO THE GASPS OF THE OUTFIELD AND SPECTATORS, Rochey went for 17 trying to emulate him and then Bouch run himself out (for once him and not someone else) on 42 and Walkovers finished on 85, losing by 25 runs.
