Walkovers A v Centurions

Walkovers A Crush Centurions

While Optimus were busy wrapping up the title in defeat to JJCA, Walkovers won the toss for their match against Centurions and captain Pats elected to bat first.

Bouchard, still suffering from dodgy food/beer opened the batting and appeared to be protecting himself from an accident by blocking rather than running early on! That said, Bouch and Naylor got Walkovers off to a solid start until Bouch decided to retire to the toilet on 13 and in strolled Rochey.

Rochey, fresh from his match-winning innings for the Morris Dancer's on Sunday looked fluent from the start and was ably assisted by Naylor who increased his strike rate as Walkovers pushed on. Naylor hit a six before retiring and allowing Le Roux to have a hit. It wasn't quite the big man's day as he got an unlucky deflection from the roof and was caught out by a very decent running catch. Roche then retired for a very well played 26*.

Patterson walked in and despite a dodgy start continued to build the innings up with some momentum - something that carried on still further with the arrival of Paul Michel to the crease. Michel outscored Patterson in the last three overs as Walkovers built to score 121-1 which should have been enough for victory if not quite take defeat out of the question.

Bouchard - retired (bottom) 13
Naylor - retired 25
Roche - retired 26
Le Roux - caught 4
Patterson - not out 19
Michel - not out 20

Walkovers needed a decent start so they turned to the man in the form of his life - Paul Michel. A run out in the first over and another batsman clean-bowled followed and Paul had given us exactly what the doctor ordered. What exactly the doctor will order Bouch we are yet to find out but certainly he didn't order him to bowl and therefore the second over was taken by Naylor.

Naylor's 1st over was ok but a little wild at times and he was given a rest and asked to come back fresher later on in the innings. This meant Le Roux came on and Michel finished his spell - both bowled a great line and length and kept it tight. That man Michel picked up a 2nd wicket and Centurions were in real trouble.

The captain then struck with his first ball and continued the momentum Walkovers had built up - this meant Naylor was right on the money when he returned as well.

Danger-man Danny Bertram was then removed by Patterson and Naylor wrapped up the innings by clean bowling the no. 6 for an emphatic victory by 57 runs.

It was one of the most professional victories I have ever been involved with, players really on top of their game crushing inferior opposition.

Keep it up lads, if we play like that in our next two games we'll be third in the league and in a cup final!

Michel 3-20-2
Naylor 2.2-19-1
Le Roux 2-14-0
Patterson 2-18-2
