Sloggers v Walkovers B

Having lost the first two games of the season Walkovers B were looking to turn things around against our arch rivals Sloggers. Jake won the toss for the second consecutive week and decided to field.

Matt was given the new after his displays in the practice games, unfortunately he could not find his line and after a few wides Sloggers finished the first over 14 runs without loss. Dan and Spencer were then given the ball and managed to keep a hold on the run rate as well as take wickets at regular intervals with slogger being 74-2 after 7 overs. The captain then bought himself and Hansie to try and stop the acceleration with Sloggers only getting a further 45 runs from the remaining 5 overs. This give them a total of 119 with Walkovers B needing 10 runs an over to win the game.

Walkovers B opened with their best two batsman Simon and Matt, unfortunately Matt was bowled for a 2nd ball bring his brother Dan to steady the innings, just when it looked like both batsman were going to retire Dan went for one shot to many and was caught for 19, Simon soon retired so Walkovers B had two new batsman at the crease in Spencer and Hansie who kept up with the run rate however both batsmen fell with in quick succession of each other leaving Walkovers on 65-4 off 7 overs. Jake then played across then line and was caught for 9 leaving Sloggers needing only one more wicket and Walkovers needing 24 more runs with 2 overs left. The penultimate over went for 13 so only 11 were needed off the last over. Simon hit the first three balls for 3 runs each to reach his 50 and with only 2 runs need to win victory was in sight. The forth ball was a dot and the 5th ball a bye. This meant the scores were level and Walkovers B need ed one run to wing the game unfortunately he could not make contact and was run out trying to get the wining runs. Resulting in a Draw.
