Yesterday was the big relegation battle between the bottom 2 teams in the whole Evening league. Having just missed out on victory in the last 2 games there was pressure on the captain who made one change to bring in Elliot for Spencer. Having won the toss for the 4th consecutive game Walkovers decided to field.
Dan and Elliot got walkovers off to a good start with only 18 runs being scored off the first 3 overs, then at the start of the 4th Elliot was given a warning for bowling a beamer at the Post’s opening batsman and in the process giving him a bloody nose, after a short delay to attend to the injury the batsman left retired hurt.
It appeared that Dan and Elliot’s Bowling had but the fear of god in to the batsman as in the next 2 overs the post went from 18 without lost off 3 overs to 35-4 after 6 with 2 runouts (one by Elliot and the other by Simon) and 2 wicket for Elliot. Jake then bought himself on finished off the innings came to a close with a wicket and a runout with no further runs added. The Post were all out for 35 off 6.4 overs
Bowling
Dan 3-24-0
Elliot 3-11-2
Jake 0.4-0-1
3 run outs
Simon and Matt opened the batting and got the team off to a good start with Matt joining the sixes league and 12 runs coming off the first over, unfortunately he was out lbw in the next over for 13 which bought Hansie in to bat. He and Simon kept the ball ticking and with 6 runs needed to win Simon need to hit a six off the last ball of the 3rd over for Walkovers to get maximum points (batting and bowling) despite the shouts from the crowd, Simon just built his trench and defended the ball for a dot. Walokover did knock off the runs off the next 2 deliveries to get 2 batting bonus points and more importantly a much need victory.
Simon 12
Matt 13 (1x6, 1x4)
Hansie 5
Extras 6
