Durrell v Walkovers B

Having won the last game and moved off the bottom of the table Walkovers B new that a win against the Zoo would all but be enough to keep them up (unless a set of freak results go against them). With Captain Jake failing a last minute fitness test Dan Cox replaced him and Simon took over the captain duties.

Having lost the toss Walkover were put into bat with Captain Simon and Adam opening the innings. Both players played well and got the team off to a good start with 25 being scored off the first 3 overs without the loss of a wicket. Them in the fourth over Adam went big and was caught brilliantly by A Sutton which brought in Coynie who manoeuvred the ball well and kept the run rate going. Both Simon and Coynie retired with Coynie winning the race this bough in t 2 new batman with Elliot and Hansie. Both also played well and with the run rate at over 10 runs an over Walkovers B looked to get 2 bonus batting points for the first time this season. At the end of the 9th over Hansie also retired with the score on 110 with 2 overs to go. Dan came in to bat knowing he had the freedom to swing with 3 players retired and only 2 over left. He starting swing the bat left right and centre unfortunately he did not make any contact with the ball on the final delivery of the over no runs had been scored and memories of the Cup final were coming back. Dan final make contact with the ball off the final delivery of the over and Elliot decides to try and spare Dan’s blush’s of batting out a maiden indoor and sets off for the single, unfortunately Dan is too busy admiring his shot and forgets to run see’s Elliot next to him and says no send Elliot back to be run out. Maiden with one over to go maybe still 10 runs needed for the bonus point. In the last over Dan is caught and bowled for a duck and Coynie is run out with 3 runs needed off the last ball for the extra bonus point Hansie does the Job and Walkovers B get 120 off their 12 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Coynie opened the bowling a got Walkovers B off the an amazing start taking 2 wickets for 3 runs. Adam then kept the pressure on as well bowling a tight line. Coynie was immediately dropped from the bowling a Simon was not happy that he had only taken 2 wickets and not more and bought on Elliot. Who which the bowlers starting to took a shine to and the runs starting coming, Dan was bought on the other end and was also given some stick. There four overs bringing 57 runs for the loss on one more wicket. At this stage Simon turned to Hansie who bowled a great tight over for 4 runs putting he pressure back on and took a wicket in his second over. Durrel had only 1 wicket left and need 33 off the last 3 overs. With Walkovers B getting lazy in the field there was 3 missed run outs and a dropped catch. Now Durrel need 18 off 7 balls. With Hansie bowling his last delivery the batsman hits it for 3 but with another miss run out and an over throw they look for the extra 2 runs and this time he is final run out. With Walkovers winning by 14 runs.
