Sporting Club Francais Cricket Club began existence in the 1970 with an evening league side. As all new clubs tend to, SCF struggled in terms of league position to begin with but, like all good clubs do, they grew stronger and in the mid 1970’s added a weekend team into the second division, winning their first trophy, the Weekend 2nd Division Minor Cup in 1976.

Club stalwart and Jersey legend, Ron Haliwell, took over the running of the side in 1982, the same year in which SCF won the weekend league second division and thus promotion to the first division. For the first few years SCF escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth however, that soon turned around and they won the first major trophy, The Weekend Senior Cup for the first time in 1988.

In the following years the club went on to win every title available in Jersey and Channel Island cricket, including weekend, evening and indoor titles as well as each cup competition. Many of the team also represented the Jersey Island side. The most successful period in the club’s history was through the 2000’s when the club won the weekend first division five times in a row and the Upton (now the C.I. league) five times, including a period of three years when the side remained undefeated, which was a remarkable achievement.

As the first team conquered all, the reserve team was formed in 1989 and as time has gone by they too have developed into a side that consistently challenges for the trophies. A fact evidenced by a league title in 2007 sandwiched between two runners up finishes in 2006 and 2008 and Minor Cup wins in 1999 and 2002.

In 2007 SCF confirmed a partnership with Fairbairn Private Bank which secured the future of the club on a 3 year deal. As part of the deal the club name changed to the one we all know today - Fairbairn SCF.

Fairbairn SCF are delighted to be invited to play in this fantastic event and wish Walkovers all the best in achieving their fund raising target of £20,000.
